What should you look for in a Hyperbaric Oxygen Center ?
When you look into HBOT centers, there are a variety of
facilities. Whether you choose us or another center, we
would like to help you know what to look for and what
questions to ask.
You should choose a facility that has a Medical Doctor on
staff. Look beyond the training of the technicians but also
the medical background of the technicians. Do they have
nursing skills or respiratory therapist skills in addition to
being a Certified Dive Technician and Certified Hyperbaric
Specialist? How many of the staff is Red Cross certified
for CPR? Some centers only treat certain ailments; you
have to ask if your condition is treatable at that center.
Some centers only have "Mild Chambers". Others offer
lower prices because your dive is not an individual dive,
but with several other people and you dive together with a
pastic hood over your head. You should ask what type of
chamber is used and if you are going to dive with several
other people or have an individual dive. Your dive is a
prescription written especially for you. It should be
administered as such.
Is there emergency medical equipment on the premises
such as the portable defibrillators? Are the premises
clean and orderly? Is the equipment modern and in good
working condition? Are staff and patients properly
identifiable or is everyone in jeans and sweatshirts? Is the
practice affiliated with the organizations that regulate and
maintain standards in this field of practice? It is expensive
to be scrutinized by the national boards of the industry,
but it also guarantees patients an acceptable standard of
care. It takes time, money and dedication to do it right.
You shop for a bargain on your new car, but with your
health care, the best available makes the choice very
simple. We take that decision and your trust very
seriously and is what evolved into our Mission.
